In 2022, I created a blog about contemporary Belarusian culture. This project was born from a desire to show that Belarusian culture is not just what is taught in school textbooks, but also the unique and vibrant creative life of Minsk and other cities.
Throughout my career, I realized that there is a generation of millennials who missed out on cultural and artistic exposure during their childhood. The culture taught in schools seemed uninteresting, and their creative aspirations were often stifled by pragmatic parental expectations that prioritized careers in law, finance, or management over the arts. Now, having achieved professional success, these individuals finally have the opportunity to engage with art—not through nightlife or alcohol, but through cultural events, exhibitions, and theater performances.
I also saw that while Belarus has a wealth of cultural offerings, there were very few platforms that presented them in an engaging and accessible way.
That’s why I started my blog—a media journal that, through video and photography, explores new and contemporary works in various genres: theater, visual arts, digital art, music, and cinema.
I began by covering theater premieres, exhibition openings, and writing reviews of cultural events. Over time, I introduced monthly guides on where to go for an enriching cultural experience, as well as film reviews.
My focus was on selecting events that were fresh, aligned with modern artistic trends, and authentically represented Belarusian culture. The content had to be stylish and profound, free from propaganda or political undertones, but rich in existential depth and the spirit of the times, fostering a deeper appreciation for local culture.
This is how Poshuki Kultury was born—a cultural blog that found immediate success from its very first review. It became a period of endless discoveries and deep immersion into the city’s cultural essence, with impactful results that quickly followed.
